Royal Isabela Golf Course

This is a boutique resort on the NW coast of the Island. It's very pretty and dramatic given its perched atop 200 foot cliffs overlooking the ocean, with an ever-present wind whipping shots across the gorgeous landscape. Unforgettable.

I went there with a golf buddy, and we each stayed in a separate Casita. They have private plunge pools outside overlooking the sea. And the decor and furnishings are luxurious. We ate at the restaurant and had a gourmet dinner. The golf course is different than most because very few golf courses have such amazing locations on which to be built. The Links Course at Royal Isabela emphasizes a minimalist design approach, and if you're being aggressive, it requires many hero shots given the buffeting winds. But if you're playing smart and managing the wind well, it's thoroughly enjoyable. Unforgettable, even. As pretty a golf course as they come.
