Midwest Golfing Magazine Spring Issue
Spring has sprung and we are far from done . . .suggesting where your next golf trip should be! MGM’s Spring Issue is a great mix of Midwest stalwarts and local favorites that continue to grow the game.
We begin with our cover feature on the incomparable Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minnesota. As Editor Glen Turk reports, Giants Ridge is as much as how it makes you feel than any score you might post. After reading his article, Glen has me convinced to head north of Duluth for a memorable trip!
The Gopher State is also home to Dacotah Ridge in Morton. Since 2000, the Rees Jones masterpiece has thrilled golfers thanks to a distinctive parcel of land that was made for golf. Plus, with affordable stay and play packages, high-energy gaming, and world-class entertainment onsite, the adjacent Jackpot Junction is your group’s ideal home base.
Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Illinois might not have a casino on property, but there is a Riverboat Casino in Dubuque, Iowa less than 30 minutes away. I doubt you’ll want to leave Eagle Ridge for long however, as the resort is home to 63 jaw-dropping holes and the new stand-alone Stonedrift Spa. I love Eagle Ridge for so many reasons, so if you’ve never been, the time is now to explore the Galena Territory.
As I mentioned earlier, MGM loves local courses that make the game fun and affordable. Two such properties are located a stone’s throw from Madison, Wisconsin – The Oaks and Lake Windsor Country Club. I have personally played a lot of golf at each, and we are thrilled to share their commitment to the game with you! 2023 is going to be a huge year in The Badger State! SentryWorld in Stevens Point is poised to host the U.S. Senior Open in late June and we’ve got it previewed! Our staff also advances the incredible expansion of Sand Valley Resort in Rome, WI. Amazingly, they are closing in on 100 golf holes in the sand dunes of Central Wisconsin.
Staying in the Badger State, we are honored to spread the word about Iron Joc, a performance apparel company that has recently added a golf collection to their stable. Iron Joc apparel is infused with Silver Ion Technology that kills more than 99% of all bacteria. If my wife reads this, I’m guessing all my old golf shirts are heading to Goodwill only to be replaced by Iron Joc.
MGM is thrilled to welcome our newest contributing writer to the fold, Liz Nagel. If the name sounds familiar that’s because we’ve highlighted her LPGA career since Editor Glen Turk played with her in a Symetra Tour Pro-Am at French Lick Resort in 2017. What better place for Liz to write about than Greater Lansing, Michigan – home to her beloved Michigan State Spartans and a ton of amazing public golf courses!
An issue of MGM wouldn’t be complete without Chip Shots, Ask Annex, our Pro Page with Michael Crowley, and the always entertaining Turk’s Takes.
